[ANIMATION SCRIPTS] Writing Animation Scripts for Candyman (candy brand)

As a member of an online forum (Creativeghar) for creatives, a member had posted a brief to submit animation script ideas for Candyman.

I took this up as a creative exercise. The brief and my options are reproduced below:

THE BRIEF

Brief for Candyman animated films:

Brand: Candyman
Style: 3d animated
Duration: 15 secs to 30 secs
Number: 4

Note:

  • Each film can be based on the characteristics of 1 candy, wherein the other 3 are a part of.
  • The Candyman tagline is “Kucch Bhi Karega for Candyman” needs to be incorporated.
  • The films are to be high on imagination and animation.
  • TG: Naughty Kids (boys and Girls) from 5 to 12.

The 4 characters are described below:

  1. Hi, I am Pineapple Punch. I love playing pranks, and I am known for my gags, riddles and wisecracks. I also love graffiti and am known to see humour in any situation! You know what? They say I am the naughtiest of the Candyman Gang. Cool no? So if you too are naughty and love to cause, umm… trouble, then why don’t you join my club? Together we will have loads of fun, sharing pranks, riddles and our naughty stories 😉
  2. Hello, I am Wild Banana. I have travelled the world. Having been to places as far as the Sahara desert and the Pacific Ocean, I am known to thrive on adventure and discovery. I never step out of home without my backpack, binoculars and travel guide. I absolutely love discovering new destinations, its people and culture. If adventure is what keeps you going, then why not join my club. We could have a blast discovering new things and places.  
  3. Hey I am Mango Delite. Well, I am the only girl in the Candyman gang. I love to draw and write poems. Known to have a colourful imagination, you will find me always painting something new every day. I am very creative and making new things gives me a lot of joy. If you love to paint or write short stories, then be a part of my gang.  
  4. Orange Josh! Yeah that’s me. I love sports! From mountain climbing to bungee jumping to tight rope walking to para-sailing to skateboarding, I have tried them all. My Candyman gang call me the dare-devil. Ha! And I am also a big, big fan of WWE! So if you too love sports as much me, join mu club and we will have fun playing together.

MY SCRIPT OPTIONS

CONCEPT 1

PINEAPPLE PUNCH & THE CANDYMAN GANG IN “BEACH FUN”

Candyman Gang spend a summer day at the beach.

Rest of the Candyman gang are playing beach volleyball while Pineapple Punch is busy popping down Candyman Candies. As he’s about to pop one into his mouth, the volleyball hits it out of his hand and the candy flies and falls and rolls under a fat lady sunbathing in a bikini.

This brings out the prankster in Punch who immediately grabs a nearby scampering crab and puts it on her. The lady jumps and screams pushing the candy further into a a picnic hamper of another family.

Punch leaps to the picnic hamper. Too late! A scrawny mouse (think Jerry!) pops out of the hamper with the candy in his hand, smelling it with an ecstatic look on his face and is about to pop the candy into his mouth.

Suddenly a cat’s face looms into the mouse’s vision and it shrieks and drops the candy. The Cat’s face moves away to reveal a grinning Punch holding a cat’s mask. But Oh no! The candy has fallen into a zooming past beach buggy driven by a manic teenager.

Punch takes a dive and hangs onto the back  fender of the beach buggy. He grabs a can and shoves it into the exhaust of the buggy. The buggy sputters and stops abruptly and the teenager falls head first into the sand and the candy plops into the sea. Punch dives in.

The Candyman gang rush to the rescue and throw in a net. Out comes Punch grinning widely with a load of candies caught in the net.

The Candyman Gang screams hooray and pop down candies.

CONCEPT 2

WILD BANANA & THE CANDYMAN GANG IN “WILD AFRICAN SAFARI

The Candyman Gang are at an African Safari in a 4-wheel drive viewing wild animals in their binoculars.

Wild Banana opens his Candyman box for some candies. Suddenly a chimp swipes away his box through the window of his car and swings away through the trees with an angry Wild Banana hot in pursuit!

The box slips from the chimp’s hands and falls into the open mouth of a hippo soaking in a pond. The shocked hippo closes its mouth and Wild Banana lands with a thud on his back ejecting the box out of the hippos’s mouth.

It lands into the open mouth of a crocodile who starts swimming away. The pond is actually infested with crocs and Wild Banana jumps on the back of crocs chasing the croc with the Candyman box, as he lands on the culprit croc’s back, it hits land and the box gets thrown into a pride of lions into the midst of 3 wrestling lion-cubs who start rolling the box and fighting for it.

Wild Banana jumps into the fray and grabs the box and is hotly pursued by the lions. The chimp comes to the rescue and swings down and carries Wild Banana to safety on a tree where Wild Banana shares the candies with the chimp family and even drops a few down to the lion cubs who love the candies.

CONCEPT 3

MANGO DELITE & THE CANDYMAN GANG IN  “THE MAGIC GARDEN”

Mango Delite is in her garden with her painting canvas. The Candyman Gang tell her that all the candies are over. She paints butterflies and they fly out of the canvas making her garden lively. She paints birds and they fly out of the canvas singing merrily, making her garden lively and filled with beautiful music. She paints various fruits and watches them fly out and latch onto the trees above her and the fruits transform into Candyman candies and start raining down into the hands of a happy and shrieking with glee Candyman Gang.

CONCEPT 4

ORANGE JOSH & THE CANDYMAN GANG IN  “THE OLYMPICS”

Orange Josh and the Candyman Gang are all at the race track. On your marks, set go! They all start running the race.  Orange Josh rushes and trips rolls onto the Shot putting area where a contestant mistakes him for the shot and throws orange josh far and wide into a wrestling ring! A fierce looking wrestler makes his moves on Josh throwing him around.  THe Candyman Gang shout out to Josh, who opens his mouth and they throw Candyman candies into his mouth. This energises Josh and he drubs the wrestler throwing him out of the ring and winning!!!
